What makes a landscaping quote different

Landscaping is two businesses on one truck: the install that happens once and the maintenance that repeats. Most templates handle one and fight the other. This one carries both:

  • Lot size and areas on the property block - front, back, beds, approximate square footage - because bed prep, sod, and mulch are all priced from area.
  • An item column for installs, per-visit services, plants and materials, and haul-away, so a quote can carry "install 12 boxwoods" and "mow and edge, per visit" as separate, visible prices.
  • A schedule line in the terms - one-time, weekly, every two weeks, or monthly, circled. Recurring rates in writing are what stop the month-two rate conversation.
  • Deposit and signatures. Plant material is bought ahead and lives for a limited time; the deposit covers the order.

Pricing it

  1. Price installs from area and count, and say which on the line. Our landscaping pricing guide has 2026 benchmarks for sod, mulch, planting, and hardscape.
  2. List plant material as its own lines with a count - it is the cost the client most wants to see and the one most likely to change at the nursery.
  3. Quote maintenance per visit against the schedule circled on the page, and write the season or visit count in the notes.
  4. Put haul-away on its own line. Debris is real cost and reads as fair when it is visible.

When the maintenance list outgrows the clipboard

The template works until you have nine recurring properties on three schedules and one of them wants the install re-quoted "with the bigger trees." FastEstimateMaker keeps every line live for a re-send, and turns the accepted maintenance quote into recurring invoices on the schedule you set.

Questions contractors ask

How do I quote a yard I have only seen in photos?

Quote from the area and counts you can see, write the walkthrough adjustment into the notes line, and mark the estimate preliminary until you have measured. The template's property block records the lot and areas so the assumption is on paper.

Should plant material be marked up on the estimate?

Yes, and it does not need to show. List plants at your installed price per unit; the count is what clients check, not the nursery invoice. Warranty terms on plants belong in the notes.

One-time install or recurring maintenance on the same estimate?

Both, on one page. The install lines are priced once; the maintenance lines are priced per visit against the schedule in the terms. Signing once covers both, which is the point.

Quote the install and the maintenance from the driveway

Speak the areas or snap the yard - FastEstimateMaker prices the installs from your rates, sets up the maintenance schedule you set, and gets the signature on your phone.
